The Labour Market Information is intended to help individuals, Employees and Employers to make decisions about careers, Education Employment, business plans and investments and also to determine which occupations suit their skills and interests, where the jobs are, and which occupations have the best prospects. It also helps peoples locate the most appropriate training and educational resources.

The Study on Informal Sector Employability in Galle, Kandy and Rathnapura Districts 2016
For the Sri lankan labour market Informal Sector represents an important part. According to the Annual Labour Force Survey - 2014 of the department of Census and Statistics, the contribution of informal sector in total employment accounted as 59.5% in the year 2014. This sector can be identified as unorganized sector, or non- institutionalized sector in the economy. Therefore it is a sector not covered by the existing conventional source of statistics.
Key aspects of identifying informal sector
- Number of employers are less than ten.
- No registration of the organization under Inland revenue department.
- Not functioning proper book keeping method.
- Not registered for EPF/ETF.
The objective of this survey is to identify employment structure of the informal sector, and its special characteristics in the districts of Kandy, Galle and Rathnapura in the year 2016.
The survey is planned to collect data using convenience sampling method, and the data will be collected by the Human Resource Development officers working in the divisional secretariat offices through out the country.
